Roots Around Pipes

Root invasion causes serious plumbing problems for homes and commercial businesses.

Because of somewhat mild climate, trees and shrubs are usually in growing mode.  While that’s great for your yard, it could spell big trouble for your sewer lines and home or commercial plumbing system.

Our plumbers deal with this problem often and are experts at solving it quickly and in a cost-efficient manner.

Sewer line root problems start when the climate is dry and tree roots dig deep into the ground in search of nutrients, paving a trail until they find an adequate water supply. If there happen to be holes or poorly sealed joints in a nearby sewer line, the roots will extend to the source to soak up moisture and nutrients found within the pipes.

According to our plumbers, if no action is taken the tree roots will enter the pipes and result in clogged drains and reduced water flow. The tree roots will tangle with toilet paper and other sewage waste to form a complete blockage if not treated by a plumbing company soon after the roots enter the pipes.

After roots have entered your sewer line, they will continue to grow and expand, exerting more pressure on the pipes and increasing the risk of a broken pipe. Some pipes are more easily damaged than others. Clay pipe is the most vulnerable to cracking and breakage, while PVC pipe and concrete pipe are significantly more resistant to damage.

If you are experiencing root problems, A1 Sewer & Drain Plumbing & Water Heaters will send out an expert plumber to cut out the roots.  After the roots are removed, we will suggest a root destroyer application to prevent the growth from recurring. Fortunately, the root destroyer only takes action on the roots near your pipes.
