Sewer & Water Line Installation & Repair in Williamsburg

In Williamsburg, VA, where historic charm meets modern living, aging infrastructure can cause major challenges for homeowners. Many older properties still rely on lead water lines and clay sewer pipes installed decades ago. These materials weren’t designed to handle today’s usage or soil conditions and are increasingly prone to leaks.

As Williamsburg expands its public sewer systems, many homeowners are replacing aging sewer and water lines. Whether your home is in a historic district or a newer development, A1 Sewer & Drain offers the experience needed to keep your underground systems running reliably.

Everyone at A1 was professional and great to work with. My front underground water line broke and after confirming it was the line and not my sprinkler system. We had it repaired by A1 plumbing and heating. I'm sorry I didn't get the insurance through the power company. It was expensive but they worked really hard and it was nothing I could have done. I recommend them .

I can't say enough about Jamie from A1 Sewer & Drain. Give this man a raise immediately. Earlier in the week we had to do a sewage pipe repair, he did an awesome job and finished by the end of the day. Very communicative about everything that he was doing. A few days later, we had a water line leak that started filling the newly dug trench with water. (possibly because the inspector had slipped into the hole earlier) We called A1 and surprisingly although he wasn't working that late, he came anyway. In about 30 degree weather with a short sleeve t-shirt on, he was lying in the mud on his belly fixing the problem. I felt so bad that he had to do that but he said he just wanted to make sure we had water. A+ guy. Give him a promotion!!

Causes of Sewer & Water Line Problems in Williamsburg, VA

Williamsburg’s mix of clay-heavy soil and aging infrastructure can put significant stress on buried lines. Lead water pipes corrode over time, leaching small amounts of lead into the water supply, a serious concern for children and pregnant women. Likewise, clay sewer pipes can crack or separate at the joints due to soil movement or tree root intrusion.

Preventive maintenance is essential in Williamsburg’s historic neighborhoods, where older infrastructure meets modern demand. Keep in mind: anything within your property line is the homeowner’s responsibility, while the city maintains public lines beyond that point.

FAQs

Lead pipes can corrode, allowing trace amounts of lead to enter drinking water. Replacing them with PEX water lines eliminates the risk and improves water safety.

We use camera inspections to locate cracks, root growth, or collapsed sections without digging up your yard unnecessarily.

We use PEX for water lines and PVC for sewer lines, both designed to resist corrosion and handle soil movement.
